A young soul with a timeless voice #1

Earlier this year 8 year old Angelina Jordan appeared on Norway’s Got Talent. Now, I’m not a fan of talent-shows, especially when I get the feeling a child is forced on stage by overenthusiastic parents.

However, I must admit, some child-performers are amazing. Angeline Jordan with ‘Fly me to the moon’ is not an exception. What a voice.

Album Tip #2: the War on Drugs – Lost In The Dream

thewarondrugs2Mixing the grand-scale guitar attack of Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine with a melodic sense and lyrical perspective that recalls Bob Dylan roaring down Highway 61, Philadelphia’s The War on Drugs are the creation of a pair of Dylan fans, Adam Granduciel and Kurt Vile, who met at a party in 2003.

Dreaming away while listening, the albums reminds me of Dire Straits and I like it from the beginning to the end. And it doesn’t seem to get boring as well. In october they’ll be in The Netherlands. Be there or be square.

Album Tip #1: Drowners – Drowners

drownersAlthough formed in 2012, I never heared of Drowners before and it’s safe to say the album released last month is already one of the most surprising and promising albums of 2014.

The band formed when Welsh-born Matthew Hitt moved to New York in 2011 to pursue a career in modelling. With a degree in English Literature he found time to “write and jam on my guitar every day”.”He recruited three local musicians and began rehearsing and recording the songs. Their eponymous debut album was released worldwide last month.

This month they’ll be touring Europe and I really hope they visit The Netherlands as well.

Anyway, listen for yourself:
